Grammar: ⚙️ Verbs in Depth: ⏳ Perfect Continuous & Future Perfect Tenses (B2) - Lesson 6: Future Perfect Simple (Actions completed by a certain future time)

Grammar: B2 Verbs

Future Perfect Simple

អនាគតកាលបរិបូរណ៍ធម្មតា

Looking back from the future to an action that is already finished!

ប្រើសម្រាប់និយាយពីសកម្មភាពដែល "នឹងបានបញ្ចប់រួចរាល់" នៅមុនពេលកំណត់ណាមួយក្នុងអនាគត។
⚙️

The Formula ⚙️

ទម្រង់នៃប្រយោគ
Affirmative (+) Subject + will have + V3 (Past Participle) I will have finished the report.
Negative (-) Subject + will not (won't) have + V3 She won't have arrived yet.
Question (?) Will + Subject + have + V3? Will they have eaten dinner?

Time Expressions ⏰

ពាក្យបញ្ជាក់ពេលវេលា (Deadline Words)

We almost always use a "deadline" word with this tense to show WHEN the action will be finished.

By + [Time] By By 5 PM, I will have sent the email. (ត្រឹមម៉ោង ៥ ល្ងាច ខ្ញុំនឹងបានផ្ញើអ៊ីមែលរួចរាល់។)
By the time + [Present Simple] By the time By the time you arrive, we will have eaten. (ត្រឹមពេលដែលអ្នកមកដល់ ពួកយើងនឹងបានញ៉ាំបាយរួចហើយ។) (Never use "will" right after "by the time"!)
Before + [Time] Before They will have built the bridge before next year. (ពួកគេនឹងបានសាងសង់ស្ពាននោះរួចរាល់មុនឆ្នាំក្រោយ។)

Tense Trap!

Future Simple vs. Future Perfect

Future Simple: The action HAPPENS at that time.
Future Perfect: The action is FINISHED by that time.
At 8 PM, I will eat dinner. (ចាប់ផ្តើមញ៉ាំម៉ោង ៨)
By 8 PM, I will have eaten dinner. (ម៉ោង ៨ ញ៉ាំរួចបាត់ហើយ)

Can I use "until" instead of "by"? Like "Until 5 PM, I will have finished."?

No, be careful! "By" means 'not later than a specific time'. "Until" is used for actions that continue up to a point and then stop. With Future Perfect, we almost always use "By". 🚫

What if the verb is irregular? Do I still use V3?

Yes! ALWAYS use the Past Participle (V3). For regular verbs, it's -ed (finished). For irregular verbs, it changes: "By tomorrow, I will have **eaten** / **seen** / **written**." 📝

Do native speakers actually use this tense in everyday speaking? It feels so long.

Yes, they do! Especially when talking about plans, work deadlines, or travel. But in speaking, we usually use contractions to make it faster: "I'll have finished" (I'll've finished). 🗣️
