🧠

Gerund vs. Infinitive

Some verbs change their meaning completely depending on whether they are followed by an -ing word (Gerund) or to + verb (Infinitive).

"I stopped smoking."
I quit cigarettes forever. (Good for your health!)
"I stopped to smoke."
I paused my walk/drive in order to have a cigarette. (Bad context!)

No, you must choose one path! Either "try drinking" (experimenting) or "try to drink" (making an effort). Never mix them! 🚫
