Teacher, why do we double the 'm' in 'swimming' but not in 'jumping'?

Hi Vireak! We DO double the 'p' in 'jumping' actually... wait, no we don't! 'Jump' ends in TWO consonants (m + p). The rule is for words ending in ONE vowel + ONE consonant (like s-w-i-m). Because 'i' is a vowel and 'm' is a consonant, we double the 'm' -> swimming! 🏊‍♂️

Can I say "I am understanding the lesson"?

Good try Sovan, but 'understand' is a State Verb (like 'want' or 'know'). It describes a state of mind, not a physical action. So you just say "I understand the lesson." 💡
