Speaking: Fluency and Coherence A1 - Lesson 4: Basic Pausing

Lesson: Stop and Breathe (Pausing Patterns) Welcome to your active speaking and fluency layout! I am your instructor, Teacher Sopheak. When speaking a new language, students often try to deliver sentences without stopping. However, inserting timed pauses at full stops and commas is essential to sound natural and make your ideas easy to understand. Core Pausing Rules: Full Stop Punctuation (.): Halt delivery for 1 second to breathe. Example: I am from Cambodia. [Pause] I live in Siem Reap. Short Comma Pause (,): Delay delivery for a half second. Example: I like apples, [Pause] bananas, [Pause] and oranges. Group Phrasing Structure (/): Do not parse words individually; combine them into fluid thought blocks.
