Listening A2 - Lesson 3
Listening A2

Follow the Steps

Lesson Goals

  • Identify "Sequence Words" (First, Next, Then).
  • Follow simple map directions (Left, Right, Straight).
  • Understand recipe steps.

When someone gives instructions, the order is very important. You must listen for "signpost" words that tell you when to move to the next step.

1. Sequence Words (The Order)

These words tell you when to do something.

  • 1 First, break the eggs.
  • 2 Next, mix them well.
  • 3 Then, heat the pan.
  • 4 Finally, cook for 2 minutes.

2. Direction Words (Where to go)

Listen for specific verbs that tell you to move.

  • ⬆️ Go straight on Main Street.
  • ⬅️ Turn left at the bank.
  • ➡️ Turn right at the school.
  • 🛑 Stop at the traffic light.
Tip: Don't get lost!

If you miss a step, don't worry. Listen for the next "Sequence Word" (like After that or Then) to find your place again.

Practice Activity: The Mystery Location

Listen to the audio directions. Where do you end up?

Start at the "Start" star.

  1. Go straight two blocks.
  2. Turn right at the park.
  3. It is on your left, next to the cafe.

Where are you? (School / Hospital / Cinema)
