Viewpoints & Justifications

In advanced listening, you must identify what a speaker believes and why they believe it. Pay close attention to their signal phrases.

The Fact vs Opinion Trap!

Just because a speaker sounds highly confident does not mean they are stating an objective fact!

"There is no doubt that this is the best movie ever made."
This is still just an OPINION. ❌
"Studies indicate that this movie earned 1 billion dollars."
This is an objective FACT. ✅

Hi Vireak! Yes, "I think" is completely fine for casual conversation. However, at the B2 level, especially in formal speaking or exams like IELTS, using these advanced phrases will give you a much higher score! 📈

Excellent question! You can start by validating their view and then gently pushing back. Say: "I see your point, but I tend to think that..." or "That is an interesting perspective, however..." 🤝

You can, but it sounds extremely formal, almost like a lawyer! In a friendly email, just stick to "Because" or "Since". Save "Due to the fact that" for your academic essays or professional reports! 📝
