✨ Lesson 18: Basic Adjectives
We have learned about nouns (things) and verbs (actions). Today, we will learn about Adjectives1.
An adjective is a word that describes2 a noun. It gives us more information about a person, a place, or a thing. It answers questions like "What kind?" or "Which one?".
Two Positions for Adjectives
In English, there are two common positions3 for adjectives.
Position 1: Before the noun.
This is the most common position.
- Kampot is a beautiful province.
- I ate some delicious seafood.
- He is a tall man.
Position 2: After the verb 'to be' (am, is, are).
- The province is beautiful.
- The seafood was delicious.
- He is tall.
Notice that in both positions, the adjective 'beautiful' describes the noun 'province'. The meaning is the same!
