Hello! So far, we've learned the subject pronouns I, you, he, she, and it.

Today, we will learn the last two subject pronouns: we and they. These pronouns help us talk about groups of people or things.

What are "We" and "They"?

We

We use we when you are talking about yourself AND one or more other people together.

My family and I live in a house. We are happy.

My friend and I like to play. We play football.

(You and your classmates) We are learning English.

They

We use they when you are talking about more than one other person, animal, or thing (but not including yourself).

The students are in the classroom. They are reading.

My parents are kind. They help me.

Look at the cats! They are playing.

The books are on the table. They are new.

Using "we" and "they" is very useful for talking about groups!

Activity 1: Choose the Correct Pronoun (We or They)

Read the situation. Click "We" or "They".

1. You are talking about yourself and your friend, John.

2. Talking about two dogs playing in the park (and you are not one of them).

3. You and your family are going on a holiday.

4. Talking about your classmates (but not including yourself).

Activity 2: Fill in the Blank with We or They

Read the sentences. Type "We" or "They" in the blank.

1. My friends are here. are playing games.
2. My sister and I love ice cream. eat it every Sunday.
3. The apples are red. look delicious.

💡 Quick Tip:

  • We = I + other people.
  • They = Other people, animals, or things (more than one, and not including me).
