Today, we will learn the basic building blocks to say who you are, where you live, and what you like. Let's start your story!

warning Common Mistake
In Khmer, you can say "ខ្ញុំសិស្ស" (I student). But in English, you must use the "to be" verb. You must say "I am a student" or "She is a guide." Don't forget the little words!
ជាភាសាខ្មែរ អ្នកអាចនិយាយថា "ខ្ញុំសិស្ស"។ ប៉ុន្តែជាភាសាអង់គ្លេស អ្នក ត្រូវតែ ប្រើកិរិយាសព្ទ "to be"។ អ្នកត្រូវតែនិយាយថា "I am a student" (ខ្ញុំជាសិស្ស)។ កុំភ្លេចពាក្យតូចៗទាំងនេះ!

Hello
A friendly word used to greet someone when you first see them.

Example: Hello! It is a beautiful morning in Siem Reap.

Name
The word or words that a person, thing, or place is known by.
ឈ្មោះ - ពាក្យដែលមនុស្ស វត្ថុ ឬទីកន្លែងត្រូវបានគេស្គាល់។
Example: Hello, my name is Dara. What is your name?
ឧទាហរណ៍៖ សួស្តី ខ្ញុំឈ្មោះតារា។ តើអ្នកឈ្មោះអ្វី?

Student
A person who is studying at a school or university.
សិស្ស / និស្សិត - អ្នកដែលកំពុងសិក្សានៅសាលា ឬសាកលវិទ្យាល័យ។
Example: Bopha is a university student in Phnom Penh.
ឧទាហរណ៍៖ បុប្ផា ជានិស្សិតសាកលវិទ្យាល័យនៅរាជធានីភ្នំពេញ។

Live
To make your home in a particular place.
រស់នៅ - ធ្វើជាផ្ទះរបស់អ្នកនៅកន្លែងណាមួយ។
Example: I live in a beautiful village near Battambang.

Like
To enjoy or feel positive about something or someone.
ចូលចិត្ត - រីករាយ ឬមានអារម្មណ៍ល្អចំពោះអ្វីមួយ។
Example: I like eating warm Kuy Teav for breakfast.

Meet
To see and speak to someone for the first time.
ជួប - ឃើញ និងនិយាយជាមួយនរណាម្នាក់ជាលើកដំបូង។
Example: It is very nice to meet you today!
