Ancient Civilizations

Exploring history, archaeology, and ancient discoveries.

Listening for Context

When listening to documentaries, museum tours, or news reports about history, you will hear a lot of specific academic vocabulary.

You do not need to understand every single word. Instead, practice listening for context clues. For example, if you hear the words "hieroglyphics" and "pharaoh", you instantly know the context is Ancient Egypt.

Go to the next card to learn the archaeological vocabulary, then listen to the reporter in the Listen tab!
