Taking a Phone Message
Lesson Goal: Learn how to listen for critical information (names, numbers, urgency) during a professional phone conversation.
Listening for Accuracy
In a professional office environment, taking phone messages is a key task. Accuracy is essential—if you get a phone number or a name wrong, the business could lose a client!
When listening to a caller, pay close attention to Proper Nouns (names of people/companies) and Numbers. Don't be afraid to ask a caller to repeat themselves if they speak too quickly. Look for keywords like "urgent" or "as soon as possible" to know how quickly the message must be delivered.
