Grocery Shopping List

Lesson Goal: Learn to recognize specific English measurements and "counters" when talking about food and groceries.

Listening for Counters

In English, some foods are uncountable (like milk, bread, or butter). You cannot say "two milks." Instead, you must use a counter word.

When people make a shopping list, they talk about the containers or shapes the food comes in. You must listen carefully for phrases like a carton of, a loaf of, or a bunch of to know exactly what they need to buy.

Go to the next card to learn the quantity vocabulary, then listen to the conversation in the Listen tab to see if you can catch all the counters!
