Bargaining at the Market

Lesson Goal: Learn to listen carefully to numbers and offers during a fast-paced conversation.

The Art of the Deal

When you shop at a local market, the first price the seller tells you is almost never the final price! This is a situation where you need to negotiate, or bargain.

This requires very sharp listening skills. You must quickly hear the numbers they say, decide if it is too high, and offer a lower number back. Listen for key phrases like "too expensive" or "best price" to know where the negotiation is going.

Go to the next card to learn the negotiation vocabulary, then listen to the conversation in the Listen tab to see how it works!
