The Family Tree
Lesson Goal: Learn to identify family members and their relationships by listening carefully for kinship words.
Listening for Connections
When people show you photos of their family, they usually describe who each person is and how they are related to them. This is a very common topic in English conversation!
To understand these stories, you must listen for specific kinship keywords (like father, uncle, aunt, or cousin). You also need to pay attention to pronouns (like he, she, his, or her) to understand who the speaker is talking about.
Go to the next card to learn the family vocabulary, then listen to the audio in the Listen tab to test your understanding!
