Reading is passive. Speaking and writing are active. Let's move words to your active memory.

Strategy 1

យុទ្ធសាស្ត្រទី ១

Talk to Yourself face Describe your daily actions or thoughts out loud using the new vocabulary. (និយាយរៀបរាប់ពីសកម្មភាពប្រចាំថ្ងៃម្នាក់ឯងជាភាសាអង់គ្លេស)

Target word: Beneficial (មានប្រយោជន៍) "Drinking water every morning is beneficial for my health."

Strategy 2

យុទ្ធសាស្ត្រទី ២

The 3-Sentence Rule edit_note Write exactly three sentences for every new word: one positive (+), one negative (-), and one question (?). (ក្បួនសរសេរ ៣ ប្រយោគ)

Target word: Arduous (លំបាកខ្លាំង)

• (+) The climb was arduous.
• (-) The test wasn't arduous.
• (?) Is this job arduous?

Strategy 3

Make a Mini-Story menu_book Take 5 random new words and force them into a crazy, short story. The crazier, the better! (បង្កើតសាច់រឿងខ្លីដោយប្រើពាក្យថ្មី ៥)

Words: Cat, Gigantic, Affluent, Suddenly, Devour. "An affluent man bought a gigantic fish. Suddenly, his cat tried to devour it!"

Don't translate word-for-word!

Hi Sovan! Start by talking to yourself in the mirror (Strategy 1). You can also open your phone's voice recorder and just speak about your day using the new vocabulary. Nobody else has to hear it! mic

That's exactly why we avoid the Translation Trap! Learn "Collocations" (words that naturally go together). Instead of translating "do a mistake", learn the whole chunk: "make a mistake". Read more English texts to see these chunks in action! library_books
