Usage Note: Important Rules & Words
- Capital Letters: In English, the days of the week are special names, so they always start with a capital letter (e.g., Monday, not monday).
- Key Time Words: We use these words all the time.
- Using "On": When we talk about doing something on a specific day, we use the preposition "on". For example: "I will see you on Friday."
- Weekdays5 & Weekend6: The weekdays are Monday to Friday. The weekend is Saturday and Sunday.
In Conversation
It's Wednesday in Siem Reap. Srey is making plans with Maria.
Srey: Hi Maria! What are you doing on Friday?
Maria: Hi Srey! I am free on Friday evening. Why?
Srey: Do you want to go to the night market?
Maria: Oh, that sounds fun! Yes! Today is Wednesday, so Friday is in two days.
Srey: Great! I will see you on Friday. Have a good day!
