We have learned the seven days of the week. Now, let's learn about a bigger unit of time: the month1! There are twelve months in a year2, and we use them to talk about birthdays, holidays, and seasons.

March - Khmer: ខែមីនា

April - Khmer: ខែមេសា

May - Khmer: ខែឧសភា

June - Khmer: ខែមិថុនា

July - Khmer: ខែកក្កដា

August - Khmer: ខែសីហា

September - Khmer: ខែកញ្ញា

October - Khmer: ខែតុលា

November - Khmer: ខែវិច្ឆិកា

December - Khmer: ខែធ្នូ

Usage Note: Important Rules for Months

  • Capital Letters: Just like days, the months of the year always start with a capital letter (e.g., January, not january).
  • Prepositions "In" and "On": This is a very important grammar rule!
    • Use "in" when you only say the month.
Example: "My birthday is in June."
    • Use "on" when you say the specific date3 (month + day number).
Example: "The meeting is on June 11th."
