To make a negative sentence in the Present Simple, we use don't or doesn't + Base Verb.

ដើម្បីបង្កើតប្រយោគបដិសេធក្នុងកាលបច្ចុប្បន្ន យើងប្រើ don't ឬ doesn't ជាមួយកិរិយាសព្ទដើម!

ទម្រង់កាត់ (Contractions)

do not = don't "Don't" is used in normal speaking and writing. យើងតែងតែប្រើទម្រង់កាត់ ពេលនិយាយធម្មតា។

does not = doesn't "Does not" is very formal. ទម្រង់ពេញ ប្រើក្នុងឯកសារផ្លូវការប៉ុណ្ណោះ។

Great question, Sovan! This is the "Verb S Trap". The word "does" already has the "s/es" inside it (do + es = does). So, "doesn't" eats the "s" from the main verb. You never need two "s"s in the same clause! 📝

No, you cannot use "am not" with an action verb like "like". You must use the helping verb "do". So it is: "I do not like" (I don't like). "Am not" is only used for adjectives, nouns, or V-ing (e.g., I am not happy, I am not eating). 🚫

It depends on how many names! One name = He/She = doesn't (e.g., Dara doesn't work). Two names = They = don't (e.g., Dara and Sok don't work). 🧍= doesn't. 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️= don't.
