Excellent question! "Good" is an adjective (it describes nouns: "A good book"). "Well" is an adverb (it describes actions: "She plays well"). While you might hear "He did good" in casual, slang English, it is grammatically incorrect. For exams and formal speaking, always use "well" for actions! auto_awesome
Is "fastly" a real word? My spell checker always marks it red.
No, "fastly" is not a word! "Fast" is an irregular word. It acts as both an adjective AND an adverb. "He is a fast runner" (Adjective) vs. "He runs fast" (Adverb). directions_runair
What about "hardly"? Is that the adverb for "hard"?
Be very careful with this! "Hard" is the adverb for doing something with effort ("I work hard"). "Hardly" is a completely different word that means "almost not at all" (ស្ទើរតែមិន). E.g., "I hardly work" means you are lazy! sentiment_very_satisfied
Why is it "She plays well" and not "She plays good"? I hear native speakers say "He did good" sometimes.
