Narrating Events

To tell an engaging story, we need sequencing words and vivid descriptions to connect our ideas from start to finish!

Setting the Scene

(Past Continuous)
I was walking home when...
The sun was shining and we...
It all started when I launched the app.

Adding Drama!

All of a sudden, the lights went out.
Out of nowhere, a dog jumped out.
The next thing I knew, I was falling.

Sharing Feelings

I was absolutely terrified.
To my surprise, they helped me.
I was so relieved when I found it.
warning The "So" Trap!

Stop using "so" for every sentence!

សូមប្រើពាក្យផ្សេងៗដូចជា Then, After that, ឬ Suddenly ដើម្បីអោយសាច់រឿងមានភាពទាក់ទាញ។)
"So we went, and so we ate, and so..." cancel
Boring and repetitive.
"First we went. After that, we ate..." check_circle
Clear, structured, and engaging!

Hi Sovan! Yes, "then" is a great word. But just like "so", don't use it for EVERY sentence. Mix it up! Use "Then," "After that," "Next," and "Suddenly" to make the story exciting! auto_awesome

They mean exactly the same thing! "All of a sudden" is just a bit more idiomatic and conversational. You can use whichever one you like! thumb_up
