The English alphabet has 26 letters. Each letter makes one or more sounds. Let's learn the most common sound for each letter!

Practice
ការអនុវត្តListen to the sound for each letter again using the buttons above. Try to repeat each sound and example word clearly. Pay attention to how your mouth and tongue move.

Some English sounds might be new or different from Khmer sounds. For example:
សំឡេងអង់គ្លេសខ្លះអាចថ្មី ឬខុសពីសំឡេងខ្មែរ។ ឧទាហរណ៍៖
- The 'th' sound (like in "three" - not covered in this basic alphabet lesson, but good to be aware of for future lessons).
- សំឡេង 'th' (ដូចក្នុងពាក្យ "three" - មិនគ្របដណ្តប់ក្នុងមេរៀនអក្ខរក្រមមូលដ្ឋាននេះទេ ប៉ុន្តែល្អដែលត្រូវដឹងសម្រាប់មេរៀននាពេលអនាគត)។
- The 'v' sound (make sure your top teeth touch your bottom lip).
- សំឡេង 'v' (ត្រូវប្រាកដថាធ្មេញលើរបស់អ្នកប៉ះបបូរមាត់ក្រោម)។
- Distinguishing between 'p' (like pen) and 'b' (like boy). English 'p' often has a small puff of air.
- ការបែងចែករវាង 'p' (ដូចក្នុង pen) និង 'b' (ដូចក្នុង boy)។ អក្សរ 'p' ជាភាសាអង់គ្លេសតែងតែមានខ្យល់ចេញបន្តិច។
- The 'r' sound (try not to roll it like in some languages).
