Hello Cambodian Learners!

Today we'll look at two more types of texts: instructions and forms. Instructions tell you how to do something, like how to play a game or make a simple craft. Forms ask you for information, like when you sign up for a library card at a library in Battambang. Understanding these helps you in many everyday situations!

Instructions and Forms

Let's look at examples. Click on the text examples to hear parts of them read.

1. Simple Instructions: How to Make Lemonade

  1. First, cut a lemon in half.
  2. Next, squeeze the lemon juice into a cup.
  3. Then, add water and some sugar.
  4. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Look for: Steps (First, Next, Then, Finally), action words (cut, squeeze, add, stir). Instructions tell you what to do.

2. Simple Form: Library Card Application

Look for: Spaces to write information, labels (Name, Age, Address), often a title like "Application Form." Forms ask for information.
