You have learned your letter sounds (Lesson 2) and some tricky sight words (Lesson 3). Now it's time to put it all together! Today, we will practice how to decode¹ words.

We will focus on simple CVC Words² (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant). We will also learn about Word Families³ to help you read even faster.

Part 1: The "-at" Word Family

Words in a family rhyme⁴. They have the same ending sound. Let's read the "-at" family.

bat	b - a - t	It is a bat.

Part 2: The "-in" Word Family

Now, let's practice the "-in" family. The vowel sound is a short 'i'.
