Life in the Province

Lesson Goal: Learn to listen for descriptive words and daily routines when comparing two different lifestyles.

City vs. Countryside

When people talk about their hometowns, they often compare the city to the province (the countryside).

In a listening test, you will often hear two people comparing things. One person might describe the city as fast, busy, and stressful. The other person might describe the province as quiet, slow, and peaceful.

When listening to comparisons, pay attention to the adjectives (describing words) and the activities the speakers talk about to understand how they feel about their lifestyle.
