Listening Lesson: Distinguishing /p/ and /b/
Welcome to your listening lesson. Today, we will practice hearing the difference between the /p/ and /b/ sounds. This is very important for clear English pronunciation.
1. How to Make the Sounds
The /p/ sound is a "voiceless" sound. This means you only use air. Put your hand on your throat. When you say "ppp," you should not feel a vibration.
The /b/ sound is a "voiced" sound. This means you use your voice. Put your hand on your throat. When you say "bbb," you will feel a vibration.
