(Combining Sentences)

Speaking in short, choppy sentences makes you sound like a robot! We use conjunctions and relative clauses to connect ideas and sound fluent.

Teacher, can I use "that" instead of "who"? Like "He is the teacher that works here."

Hi Serey! Yes, in conversational English, native speakers use "that" for people all the time. However, in formal writing, it is considered better style to use "who" for people, and "that/which" for things! 📝

Why do we have to combine sentences? Short sentences are easier to write.

Short sentences are fine sometimes, Makara! But if you *only* use short sentences, you sound like a robot. 🤖 Combining sentences allows you to show complex relationships (like cause and effect) and makes your English flow naturally like a river! 🌊
