A2 Lesson 18: General Truths & Facts
Using the Present Simple for Facts
We already learned to use the Present Simple for habits and routines. The second main use is to talk about things that are always true. These are called general truths or facts.
🌍 Geographical Facts
Things that are always true about the world.
- Cambodia is in Southeast Asia.
- The Mekong River flows to the sea.
🔬 Scientific Facts
Things that are always true in science.
- Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
- The sun rises in the east.
The Grammar Rule 📖
Remember the Verb Forms!
The spelling rules are the same as for habits. Remember to add '-s' or '-es' when the subject is 'he', 'she', or 'it'.
Subject | Verb Form | Example |

He / she / it | Verb + s/es | The sun (it) rises in the east. |
