Connecting Verbs and Objects 📚

Tips for Using Your New Words

🗣️ Pronunciation Focus: Vowel Sounds

Pay attention to the vowel sounds in these verbs. The sound can be short or long. Click 🔊 to hear the difference.

  • Short 'i' sound (/ɪ/): The sound is quick. Listen: drink , live .
  • Long 'ee' sound (/iː/): The sound is longer. Listen: read , eat .
💡 Making Simple Sentences

The pattern for most simple English sentences is Subject + Verb + Object.

[Who?] + [Does What?] + [To What?]
I + read + a book.

Remember to use "a" or "an" before a singular object. For example, we say "I use a pen," not "I use pen."
