I am confused about "was having". Is it wrong to say "I was having a car"?
Yes, that's wrong! When "have" means possession (កម្មសិទ្ធិ), it is a State Verb. You must say "I HAD a car." BUT, if "have" is part of an action phrase like "have lunch" or "have a shower", you CAN use it! -> "I was having lunch when he called." restaurant
