Scanning Pictures and Words

We have practiced scanning lists for names and numbers. Today, we will scan a new type of text: a picture caption¹.

A caption is the short text under a picture that describes it. We can scan captions to quickly find information about a color² or an object³ in the picture.

How to Scan a Picture Caption

1. Look at the picture first. What do you see?
2. Know your target word. For example, "I am looking for a color" or "I am looking for the name of the vehicle."
3. Scan the caption. Move your eyes quickly over the words below the picture to find your target.

Task: What is this iconic vehicle called? Scan the caption to find its name.
