Before You Read 🧠

Key Vocabulary

Let's learn three important ideas for this lesson.

Fluency
Reading smoothly and easily, like talking.
Tracking Print
Using your finger to follow each word as you read.
One-to-one Correspondence
Matching one spoken word to one written word.

How to Track with Your Finger 👉

Pointing to each word helps your eyes follow the text from left to right so you don't get lost. It is the first step to building reading fluency.

Follow these steps:

  1. Get Ready: Put your finger on the first word of the first sentence.
  2. Listen Carefully: Listen to the audio for the practice texts. The voice will be slow.
  3. Move Your Finger: As you hear each word, slide your finger to that word.
  4. Continue: Follow with your finger to the end.

Let's Practice Together

Put your finger on the first word below. Listen to the audio and follow along.

I can see a cat.

My school is big.

The school is in Kampot.

Practice On Your Own 🎯

Self-Practice Activity

Now, try to track these sentences on your own. First, read them aloud slowly while pointing to each word. Then, listen to the audio again and check your tracking.
