👉 A1 Grammar: Using 'these' and 'those'
Objective: To learn how to use the plural demonstratives "these" and "those" to point to multiple things near and far.
- Understand that "these" is for many things that are near.
- Understand that "those" is for many things that are far.
- Practice choosing between all four demonstratives: this, that, these, and those.
Pointing to Groups
We learned how to use this and that for one thing. Now, let's learn how to point to more than one thing using these and those.
The Four Pointing Words
The word you choose depends on two things: if it is singular (one) or plural (many), and if it is near or far.
- These is for many things that are NEAR.
e.g., "These are my books." - Those is for many things that are FAR.
e.g., "Those houses are big."
