Hello! In our last lesson, we learned about singular nouns, which mean only ONE person, place, or thing.
Today, we will learn about plural nouns. "Plural" means more than one!
The most common way to make a noun plural is very simple: we just add an -s.
What are Plural Nouns? (Adding -s)
A plural noun names more than one person, place, or thing.
To make MOST singular nouns plural, we add an -s to the end of the word.
Examples: Singular ➔ Plural (+s)
- cat ➔ cats (one cat ➔ many cats)
- book ➔ books (a book ➔ two books)
- dog ➔ dogs
- pen ➔ pens
- tree ➔ trees
- friend ➔ friends
- teacher ➔ teachers
Example sentences:
- I have one apple. ➔ I have three apples.
- There is a car. ➔ There are many cars.
