Great question, Sovan! This is the "Verb S Trap". The word "does" already has the "s/es" inside it (do + es = does). So, "doesn't" eats the "s" from the main verb. You never need two "s"s in the same clause! 📝
Can I say "I am not like coffee"?
No, you cannot use "am not" with an action verb like "like". You must use the helping verb "do". So it is: "I do not like" (I don't like). "Am not" is only used for adjectives, nouns, or V-ing (e.g., I am not happy, I am not eating). 🚫
Do we use "don't" or "doesn't" for names?
It depends on how many names! One name = He/She = doesn't (e.g., Dara doesn't work). Two names = They = don't (e.g., Dara and Sok don't work). 🧍= doesn't. 🧍♂️🧍♀️= don't.
Why is it "She doesn't like" and not "She doesn't likes"? Since "She" is singular?
