The Forms of 'Be'
The verb 'to be' is the most common verb in English. It changes depending on the subject. An affirmative statement is a positive sentence that states a fact.
Matching 'Be' with the Subject

Three Basic Sentence Patterns
We use these forms of 'be' to make three types of simple sentences.
1. Describing Things
Use [Subject + be + Adjective] to describe something.
Example: The weather is hot.
2. Identifying Things
Use [Subject + be + Noun] to say what something is.
Example: He is a fisherman.
3. Locating Things
Use [Subject + be + Place] to say where something is.
Example: The book is on the table.
