What is a Postcard or Short Note?
A postcard is a card you send by mail, often from a place you visit. It usually has a picture on one side and your message on the other.
A short personal note is a brief message you write to a friend or family member, maybe for a birthday, to say thank you, or just to say hello.
Main Parts of a Simple Postcard/Note:
- Greeting: How you start. Usually "Dear [Name]," or "Hi [Name],". Remember the comma , after the name.
- Body: Your short message (1-3 simple sentences for A2). Tell something interesting or share your good wishes.
- Closing: How you end. Examples: "From,", "Your friend,", "Best wishes,", "See you soon,". Remember the comma , after the closing.
- Signature: Your name.
Example: Postcard Message
(Greeting) Dear Sothea,
(Body) I am on holiday at the beach!
The weather is sunny and warm.
I swim in the sea every day.
(Closing) See you soon,
(Signature) Dara
Example: Short Birthday Note
(Greeting) Hi Vuthy,
(Body) Happy birthday!
I hope you have a wonderful day.
(Closing) Best wishes,
(Signature) Sophea
Remember to use capital letters for names and the start of sentences in the body.

You can write about: what you see, the weather, or what you did.
✨ Tips for Writing Postcards & Notes ✨
- Keep it Short and Simple: Especially for A2 level, 2-3 sentences for the body is good.
- Be Friendly: Use polite and friendly language.
- Check Your Punctuation: Remember commas after greetings (Dear Sam,) and closings (Your friend,). Use full stops (.) at the end of your body sentences.
- Capital Letters: For names, "I", and the start of each sentence in the body.
