What is a Picture Label?
A picture label is a short group of words that tells us something about a picture. It helps us understand what we are looking at.
For simple labels, we often use:
- An article (like "a" or "an")
- An adjective (a describing word, like a color or size - e.g., "red", "big") - This is optional for very simple labels.
- A noun (the name of a person, place, or thing - e.g., "car", "dog", "apple")
Examples:
If you see a picture of a red car, you could write:
a red car
If you see a picture of a big dog, you could write:
a big dog
Sometimes, the label can be very simple:
an apple
(We use "an" before words that start with a vowel sound like a, e, i, o, u.)
Remember: For these short labels, we don't usually use a capital letter at the start or a full stop at the end, unless your teacher tells you to write a full sentence.
