In this lesson, you will:

  • Practice finding and typing lowercase English letters.
  • Learn how to type uppercase English letters using the Shift key.
  • Practice typing some basic punctuation marks.
  • Try typing simple English words.

The QWERTY Keyboard

Most English keyboards use a layout called QWERTY. Look at the picture below to see where the keys are.

Activity 1: Typing Lowercase Letters

Let's practice typing some lowercase letters. Look for the letter on your keyboard and type it in the box.

To type an uppercase (big) letter, you need to use the Shift key. Find the Shift key on your keyboard (there are usually two). Press and HOLD the Shift key with one finger, and then press the letter key with another finger.
