A2
Reducing Hesitation
កាត់បន្ថយការទាក់
🎯 Objective / គោលបំណង:
Don't use "Umm...". Use "Well," "So," or "You know" to buy time while you think.
💬 Scenario: Weekend Plans
Friend
"What do you want to do this weekend?"
Dara (Hesitant)
"I... um... think... um... maybe... sleep."
(Too many stops. Sounds unsure.)
Dara (Fluent)
"Well, I think I'll just sleep. You know, I'm very tired."
(Uses fillers to keep the rhythm.)
The Bridge Builder
Fill the gap with a "Thinking Word" instead of silence.
I like football,
...
but I'm busy.
Start with "Well..." គឺថា...
Use this when you start an answer but need 1 second to think.
"Well, I usually go to the market."
"Well, I usually go to the market."
Use "You know..." អ្នកដឹងទេ...
Use this in the middle of a sentence to connect ideas.
"It's hot today, you know, so I stayed home."
"It's hot today, you know, so I stayed home."
Fix the Silence
Question: "Do you like cooking?"
Select the smoother answer:
A. "Well, I like it, but I'm not good at it."
B. "Umm... I like... um... but no good."
Statement: "I'm busy today."
Add a middle filler:
A. "I'm busy... um... today."
B. "I'm busy, you know, because of work."
