You have learned many phonics rules to decode new words. But to read fast, you also need to know many words by sight.
Today, we will learn a new list of Sight Words1 (words that can be tricky) and High-Frequency Words2 (words you will see all the time). Memorizing these words is key to becoming a fluent reader.
Part 1: Tricky Sight Words
These common words don't always follow the rules, so we learn them by sight.

Part 2: Common High-Frequency Words
You will see these words in almost every story you read.

| him | គាត់ (បុរស) | The book belongs to him. |

Part 3: Reading Practice Story
Read this short story aloud. It uses many of our new words!
I saw my friend today. I went to talk with him.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
He said, "I am going to the river. Do you want to come?"
I was very happy. "Yes! They are all swimming there. Let's go!"
