Hello Cambodian Learners!
Welcome to your first lesson on writing English letters by hand! Just like the beautiful letters in Khmer script, English letters have their own special shapes. Learning to write them clearly is very important for school, for notes, and for sharing your ideas. Today, we will explore these shapes together. We will learn about big letters (called uppercase) and small letters (called lowercase).

Step-by-Step Examples:
Letter A a
(Visual: Slant left, slant right, cross middle)
- Start at the top. Draw a slanting line down to the left.
- Go back to the top. Draw a slanting line down to the right.
- Draw a straight line across in the middle.
(Visual: Circle, then short line down right)
- Make a small circle.
- Add a short straight line down on the right side of the circle.
Tips for Good Handwriting:
- Use paper that has lines. This helps keep your letters straight and the right size.
- When you are first learning, write slowly. Focus on making the correct shape for each letter.
- Hold your pencil or pen comfortably. You don't need to press too hard.
- Practice a little bit every day. Regular practice is the key to getting better!
