Putting It All Together: Story or Description

Your Final A2 Task: In this lesson, you will use the grammar and vocabulary you have learned to write a short, creative paragraph—either a story about a past event or a description of a place.

Choose Your Creative Task

This is your opportunity to be creative and show what you have learned at the A2 level. You have two choices for your writing task: you can write a short story or a detailed description. Read both options below and choose the one you like more.

Option 1: Write a Short Story

A story describes events that happened in the past. It should have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Think about something interesting that happened to you last week.

Language to Use:

• Past Simple (was, went, saw)
• Conjunctions (and, but, so)
• Adverbs (slowly, suddenly)
• Time Phrases (yesterday, last week)

Example Story Idea:
"Last Saturday, I went to the market with my friend. It was very busy. We walked around slowly. Suddenly, I saw my old teacher! I was surprised, so I went and said hello. It was a nice day."

Option 2: Write a Description

A description "paints a picture" with words. Describe your favorite place in your city (like a cafe, a park, or a temple).

Language to Use:

• Present Simple (is, are, has)
• Adjectives (beautiful, old, busy)
• Comparatives (bigger than, the best)
• Prepositions (in, on, near)

Example Description Idea:
"My favorite cafe is near the river. It isn't the biggest cafe, but I think it's the best. There are comfortable chairs inside. The coffee is always hot and strong. The people who work there are very friendly."
