- Understand what "reasonable fluency" means at the B1 level (reading smoothly enough to understand without too many pauses).
- Practice reading B1-level short texts with improved accuracy and pacing.
- Check your comprehension of the texts you read fluently.
- Apply strategies to improve reading fluency.
Hello Cambodian Learners!
At the B1 level, reading fluency means you can read and understand texts more smoothly. You don't have to stop for every word, and you can follow the ideas more easily. This is important when reading articles about current events in Cambodia, stories, or instructions. Practicing reading aloud and re-reading texts helps a lot!
What is "Reasonable Fluency and Comprehension"?
At this level, it means:
- Reading smoothly: Grouping words into phrases, not reading word-by-word.
- Good pacing: Reading at a comfortable speed that allows for understanding.
- Accuracy: Pronouncing most words correctly.
- Comprehension: Understanding the main ideas and important details of what you read.
Tips for Improving Fluency:
- Practice re-reading: Read the same short text several times. Each time, you'll get smoother.
- Read in phrases: Look for small groups of words that go together.
- Listen to native speakers: Pay attention to how they pause and stress words, then try to imitate. (Our "Read Aloud" button can help!)
- Don't get stuck on unknown words: If you're reading for fluency, try to understand the general meaning first. You can look up words later.
Practice Time!

Great Job!
Practicing fluency and checking your understanding go hand-in-hand. The more smoothly you can read, the better you'll often comprehend the text!
