To analyze C1 texts, you must know these terms.
Why This Matters: Read Smarter, Not Harder
At a C1 level, you should never read an academic paper and a novel in the same way. You must adapt your strategy. Reading an academic paper from start to finish is a waste of time. Reading a legal document quickly will cause serious problems. This lesson teaches you to be a strategic, efficient reader.

Your Reading Mission ⭐
The Abstract Challenge
Your mission is to practice the most important C1 reading strategy: reading for efficiency.
- Go to an academic search engine (like Google Scholar or your university library).
- Find one academic paper (PDF or webpage) about a topic that interests you (e.g., "Cambodian economy," "AI," "marine biology").
- Read ONLY the Abstract.
- In your notebook, write three sentences that summarize the paper's findings, based *only* on the abstract.
This trains you to extract complex information in minutes, not hours.
